This course is designed for healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members who provide care and support for individuals with dementia. The course provides an overview of dementia and its different types, effective communication strategies, person-centred care, managing behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), nutrition and hydration, environmental modifications, caregiver support, and legal and ethical issues.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand dementia and its different types.
  • Use effective communication strategies to communicate with individuals with dementia.
  • Provide person-centred care and adapt care approaches to meet individual needs and promote well-being.
  • Manage behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD)
  • Promote adequate nutrition and hydration for individuals with dementia.
  • Identify environmental modifications that can improve the safety and well-being of individuals with dementia.
  • Provide support to caregivers and promote their well-being.
  • Understand legal and ethical considerations in dementia care and identify strategies for addressing legal and ethical challenges.

 

 

Assessment and Certification: The course will include assessments such as quizzes, Exercise and Case studies to evaluate learners’ understanding of the course content. Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a certificate of completion, which can be used as evidence of their training in Dementia Care.
